ABBREVIATIONS IN THE ENGLISH CUSTOMS TERMINOLOGY

Abstract. The article considers basic models of word-formation, associated with abbreviation in the sphere of the ​​English customs vocabulary, describing by the material of nouns and adjectives the main structural types of words, formed by abbreviation: initial abbreviations, acronyms, initial-word abbreviations and syncopations. The authors conclude that in this terminological system traditional models and means of word-formation are used, and the creation of new terms proceeds rather slowly.
