THE WAYS OF TOPONYMS TRANSLATION IN B. STOKER’S NOVEL “THE SNAKE’S PASS”

Abstract.
The article deals with the definition, content of toponyms and the problem of their translation correctness. As an example the fictional toponyms from the novel by B. Stoker “The Snake’s Pass” are given. The author attempts to classify and translate them into Russian with the help of calquing. The revealed difficulties associated with their reference to the vocabulary of the Irish origin are overcome by partial reduction that does not disturb the sound of words.
