Abstract. The article investigates the cognitive-semantic features and contexts of functioning of some predicates of the English language. As the contexts of these predicates functioning the authors consider a system of movement causation with the predicates of object-space direction, force, speech (verbal) and psychological influence, as well as the predicates of movement with adverbial semantics. The construction of movement causation covers all linguistic expressions, corresponding to its matrix semantic-syntactic scheme and implemented within a conventional script of causative-directive (complex) process.
