Abstract. The article compares the images of the heroines in the works by K. B. Mechiev “Buzzhigit” and K. L. Khetagurov “Fatima”. The author comes to the conclusion that the image of the woman-highlander is one of the central literary conception of the personality of the Ossetian and Balkar classics. Poets-contemporaries created female images who were literary representation of the historical conditions of life. It is established that the heroines of the works are characterized by hope for the transformation of humanity through bringing morality to life.
