Abstract.
The article examines dramatic works of Eredzhib Mamii who laid the foundation for comedy genre development in the Adyghean literature. Anonymity, collectiveness, traditional nature, syncretism are considered as the typical features in the works under analysis. The paper shows that E. Mamii’s comedies also contain different types of folkloric insertions (damnations, proverbial and phraseological material, chant), elements of bilingualism. The researcher concludes that comic effect is created by linguistic means.
