Abstract.
The article examines the problem of functioning of textual categories of retrospection and prospection in a literary text. The paper explores the explicit and implicit means to express these categories, the frequency of their usage within the certain speech segments, the specificity of coherence with other text segments. The author analyzes the retrospection and prospection potential to realize such textual categories as integration and cohesion.
