Abstract. The review of the article presents a panorama of Chekhov's "entry" into Vietnamese literature from the beginning and throughout the entire century. The attitude of Vietnamese writers, translators, and publishers to the work of a Russian writer is clearly illustrated in the article. One can also see how the work of A.P. Chekhov influenced literature in Vietnam; a collection of translations of the works of the great classic into separate volumes and the appearance of works which reflected the negative attitude of the common people towards the aristocracy.
