ALLUSIVE ANTHROPONYMS IN THE ENGLISH PUBLICISTIC DISCOURSE

Abstract.
The article reveals the notion “allusive anthroponym” which is widely used by authors for greater expressiveness, informativeness, evaluation in both literary and journalistic texts. The classification of anthroponyms on the basis of the relevance of certain characteristics of the primary referent is presented. The author singles out 4 groups of allusive anthroponyms that evoke associations with the person’s character, type of activity, appearance, and the territory with which the name of the person is connected.
