Abstract.
The article highlights the problem of overcoming students’ stereotypes through independent reflection after acquaintance with the culture of the people in the country of the studied language. Observations of students who were trained at language courses in the UK are represented, and the changes that have occurred in their ideas about the country and the representatives of the English culture after direct staying there are described.
