THE MOTIVE OF HOME IN I. S. SHMELYOV’S PRE-REVOLUTIONARY CREATIVE WORKS

Abstract.
The article is devoted to the research of the specificity of functioning of the motive of home by the material of both the early novels of the “znaniye” period of I. S. Shmelyov’s creativity and later works, where the features of neorealism and the impact of impressionistic practices (“Collapse”, “The Man from the Restaurant”, “The Wall”, “Rosstani” and others) can be seen. The peculiarities of structural-semantic load of the motive of home and its dynamics in the system of motives of these works are presented in the research. It is ascertained that the notion “home” is comprehended by Shmelyov phenomenologically, and the motive received in the writer’s prose the role of one of semantic and plot dominating ideas. This role performs the structural modeling function and corresponds with the characters-actants.
