THE LITERARY NATURE OF THE BURYAT EPIC “GESAR”

Abstract.
This article describes the literary features and the allegorical nature of the Buryat epic “Gesar”. The author argues that the mystique of the narrative and allegory are the main artistic feature of the epic. The paper also explores the origins of some cognate words and expressions prevalent in the epic “Gesar”. It is concluded that the narrators always advocated the peaceful coexistence of all peoples on the Earth.
