Abstract.
The article analyzes the peculiarities of the theory of equivalence from the point of view of its practical application in translating journalistic texts. The authors list the conceptions of equivalence in contemporary translation studies, which are illustrated with examples based on the material of comparison from the economic text in the English and Russian languages. The difference between the notions “adequacy” and “equivalence” is characterized. The basic problems facing the translator within the framework of publicistic economic literature translation are systematized.
