Abstract.
For the first time the article examines the Karachay-Balkar poetry of the end of the XX - the beginning of the XXI century. The author also takes into account the creative work of the younger generation of poets who entered the literary process in the last decade. The paper introduces the names of now unknown, little-known poets whose work has not received adequate research, despite the recognition of readers and critics. By the examples of the creative work of these poets the author attempts to identify the fundamental characteristics of contemporary poetry in the region.
