THEATRICAL CHARACTERS AS A BASIS OF CHARACTEROLOGY IN J. B. PRIESTLEY’S STORY “THE THIRTY-FIRST OF JUNE”

Abstract.
The article deals with the transition of the elements of drama into the prosaic work which was later staged. The content of theatrical characters is revealed and their use as the basis of characterology in J. B. Priestley story “The Thirty-First of June” is justified. The prosaic work contains the features of fairy-tales, in this connection the correlation of the functions of such characters of the fairy tale as the hero, the saboteur, the assistant and so on with the theatrical characters (coquette, confidente, and ingenue) is analyzed.
