INTERPRETATIONS OF THE TERM “WRITING” IN GRAPHICAL LINGUISTICS AND RELATED SCIENCES

Abstract.
The article provides a brief survey of interpretations of the term “writing” proposed by different scientific disciplines: linguistics, semiotics, grammatology, and psychology. The author examines the motives predetermining the differentiation of term meanings in the process of scientific cognition. The paper emphasizes that the definition of the term “writing” depends on the related conceptions and different approaches to studying writing. It is shown that the term “writing” acquires new interpretation in the interdisciplinary researches of the second half of the XX century.
