SOME PECULIARITIES OF FUNCTIONING OF THE ENGLISH BORROWINGS (BY THE MATERIAL OF EXPERIMENT WITH FREE DEFINITIONS)

Abstract.
The article is devoted to the description of the experiment conducted on the basis of the Southwest State University (Kursk) and aimed at identifying the features of functioning of the English borrowings. It was assumed that the same English borrowings are interpreted by native speakers of the Russian language in different ways. Socio-cultural environment, knowledge, emotional experiences affect the functioning of borrowings in an individual lexicon. The results of the experiment show that the meanings of borrowed words recorded in dictionaries differ from their meanings in the consciousness of the Russian speakers.
