Abstract.
“The Lady of Shalott” image by A. Tennyson is considered in the article in the light of biblical and iconographical allusions; the provided analysis allows the authors to conclude on semantic and stylistic importance of Annunciation motive in the textual space. Special attention is paid to the peculiarities of “the Lady of Shalott” image reconstruction in the Russian translation by K. D. Balmont (the focus is made on the significant differences from the original text) and in the Pre-Raphaelite paintings.
