Abstract. The article deals with the functional-stylistic aspect in teaching the Russian language to Dagestan students. Successful formation of students’ skills in functionally directed speech is promoted by acquaintance with the features of the use of syntactic constructions in speech utterances of different styles. Knowledge of the style-forming features of functional styles and peculiarities of the organization of language means depending on extralinguistic factors will contribute to the strengthening of the communicative direction of the learning process. The volume of educational material subjected to stylistic study in the IX-X grades of Dagestan school is determined.
