ON THE REALIA IN W. MORRIS’S WORKS

Abstract.
The article deals with the phenomenon of historical realia (historicisms) and their function in the archaized texts of the later novels of William Morris (1834-1896, the United Kingdom). The author substantiates the idea that Morris’s historicisms are not used as definite terms with a clearly fixed meaning, but participate in the general function of text poetization (the phenomenon of techniques convergence). The results of a certain stage in the study of this writer’s novel creativity are presented in the work.
