Abstract.
The article provides an analysis of British parliamentarians’ speeches from the viewpoint of a linguo-culturological approach. The speeches are analyzed according to strategies representing a linguo-cultural characteristic of British people’s distancing. A linguo-culturological approach allows identifying a distancing strategy as a key communicative strategy of the British culture. Emotional restraint and self-control verbally manifested in distancing are key values of the British communicative culture.
