Abstract.
In the article the terms used to describe the roofs in modern German architectural and building terminology (Germany) are systematized. Their translations are specified. The interpretations of those terms that represent the specificity and history of roof construction in Germany are given. The information, available in dictionaries, as a rule, is not enough to understand such terms, and many terms are completely absent in lexicographical sources.
