Abstract.
The article shows that an authentic talk show has the significant linguistic-didactic potential for the development of oral informal communication skills. It can be used as a means of teaching communication skills in its three components: communication itself, interaction and perception. An analysis of the parts of the programme “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” allows singling out samples of native speakers’ verbal behaviour within each of the components of communication.
