Abstract.
The article analyzes the Bashkir historical novel from the viewpoint of creating a national hero image. The study focuses on the novels of Soviet and post-Soviet writers - A. Tagirov, I. Nasyri, G. Khairi, Ya. Khammatov, F. Isyangulov, R. Baimov, G. Khisamov. Analyzing their creative work the author traces the evolution of the Bashkir leader Zeki Velidi’s image, his transformation from an anti-hero to a protagonist, the process of the writers’ liberation from the false conception, from ideological stereotypes. A comparative-contrastive analysis allows the author to identify the specificity of the creative manner of a certain writer, to establish his role in the artistic interpretation of the hero’s personality.
