TYPOLOGY OF INTELLECTUALS’ IMAGES IN A. I. KUPRIN’S PROSE

Abstract.
The article is devoted to the analysis of the intellectuals theme in works by A. I. Kuprin. Attention is focused on the typology of intellectuals’ images, whom the writer highlights in his short novels. They differ from intellectuals described in the literature of the past centuries, because they cannot cope with the problems that arise in the society. Many researchers considered this issue in A. I. Kuprin’s works, but nobody has studied it to the end. The author concludes that the writer could not remain indifferent to the fate of the intellectual and the country at a crucial moment, because, having experienced all the difficulties of that time, he felt these people’s tragedy.
