Abstract.
The relevance of the study lies in the challenges that literary criticism faced at the turn of the XX-XXI centuries involving broadening the cultural dialogue of Russia and the Pacific Asian countries. The research objective involves identifying genre markers in the poetics of the disaster novels “Cold” and “Death of a Dragon”. The researchers’ attention is focused on the following issues: the history of the novels, the means to express the author’s individuality in Andrey Gelasimov’s and Sakyo Komatsu’s works, traditional and innovative approaches to the genre interpretation. The paper identifies specific markers, common and peculiar for each of the writers in the interpretation of mythological, autobiographical, toponymic, metaphysical genre dominants.
