Review Genre in A. R. Kugel’s Criticism

Abstract.
The article analyses A. R. Kugel’s critical works from the viewpoint of their affiliation to the genre of literary and theatrical review. A. R. Kugel’s publications in the magazine “Teatr i Iskusstvo” (“Theatre and Art”) for the entire period of its existence are examined. The conducted research shows that Kugel’s critical articles can be considered as literary and theatrical ones. Kugel’s journalistic skills concerning information presentation, development of publicistic style and choice of the genre palette are revealed. The paper summarizes the material concerning the reception of new theatrical and dramaturgic forms in A. R. Kugel’s critical aesthetics.
