Abstract.
The article provides a brief bio-bibliographical analysis of the life and half-a-century creative activity of a famous representative of the French nouveau roman (new novel) movement, Nobel laureate Claude Simon. It is emphasized that the nouveauté works - the most complicated and fundamental in the French literature of the XX century - can be adequately interpreted only against the background of his long life full of mysteries and paradoxes. The paper introduces into scientific use previously unknown information obtained from interviews with the writer himself and his contemporaries, from analysis of his works.
