Associative Representation of Grève (Strike) Phenomenon in the French Linguistic Consciousness

Abstract.
The article examines associative linguistic components of grève (strike) notion in the French linguistic consciousness. The paper aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of etymological, denotative and associative semantic features of grève (strike) notion. The author concludes that the French linguistic image of this phenomenon mostly represents its basic denotative features but the semes “social justice”, “economic losses” and “constructive dialogue” prevail. Originality of the paper involves the linguo-cognitive approach to studying a sociological phenomenon.
