Abstract.
The research is conducted within the framework of combinatorial linguistics, which analyses combinatorial-syntagmatic features of linguistic units. Relevance of the paper is conditioned by the necessity to study the author’s word combinations, or occasional collocations. Lexical meaning of such units is not represented in dictionaries and allows different interpretations. Occasional collocations are considered as the author’s word combinations created occasionally, with deliberate violation of lexico-semantic compatibility, with the aim of solving functional-expressive tasks within a fiction text. The article aims to provide a comprehensive functional-semantic analysis, to reveal the meaning of occasional units and to identify their functions in the ode “Bonaparte” by A. de Lamartine.
