Compressive Function of Anglicisms and Their Derivatives in the Modern German Language

Abstract.
The article examines the compressive function of Anglicisms and their derivatives in the modern German language. Scientific originality of the paper involves the comprehensive approach to analysing the realization of the linguistic compression principle in the mentioned linguistic units. The findings indicate that the English borrowings in the modern German language frequently perform the compressive function contributing to linguistic economy. The author distinguishes two types of derivational compression on the basis of Anglicisms: hereditary and acquired ones.
