Abstract.
The study aims to solve the problem of the influence that life events had on the deep way of thinking of the Balkarian poet K. Sh. Kuliev. Inverse nature of evolution of Kuliev’s conceptual thinking amidst deportation of the Balkars is analysed. Scientific novelty of the work lies in hypothesising about psychological binarity peculiar to the system of the artist’s social and reflective self-identification. As a result, it was found that Kuliev’s transition to creating images actualised at the notional-rational level of consciousness was a necessary and inevitable step, which later made the poet adopt a unique form of lyrical reflection with organic unity of tragic and life-affirming principles as its essential feature.
