Abstract.
The article discusses the problem of translation norms when translating documentaries about wildlife. The research objective includes identifying the translation norms used to translate a documentary of the 1960s. The study is based on theoretical provisions of domestic and foreign linguists - specialists in translation studies. Scientific originality of the paper lies in the fact that the researcher for the first time provides a comprehensive analysis of audio-visual translation of a documentary of the 1960s. The conducted research justifies importance of certain translation norms established by the Soviet audio-visual translators of the 1960s.
