Linguocultural Significance of French Phraseological Units with Names of Tools and Instruments of Labour

Abstract.
The aim of the study is to determine the French phraseological units with the names of tools and instruments of labour that have the greatest linguocultural significance. Each name of tools and instruments of labour, being a part of a phraseological unit, already potentially carries a cultural meaning; the information about it is embedded in a native speaker’s mind. The main hypothesis of the study is that the lexemes of the names of tools and instruments of labour with which the largest number of phraseological units is formed have the greatest cultural significance. The scientific originality of the research lies in the fact that for the first time the linguocultural significance of the French phraseological units with the names of tools and instruments of labour is shown and described. As a result, the author presents the linguistic and cultural features of the phraseological units that are a part of the largest phraseological paradigms: “Couteau, m (knife)”, “Marteau, m (hammer)”, “Moulin, m (mill)”.
