Linguistic Representation of the PRIVACY Concept (by the Material of Idiomatic Expressions of the English Language)

Abstract.
The study aims to identify the significance of the PRIVACY concept for the English conceptual sphere and to show how it is expressed in the language through idioms. The geographical autonomy of the United Kingdom formed the basis of the PRIVACY concept, so this concept can be called one of the key ones in English linguoculture. The paper demonstrates the principles of interaction of communication participants who violated the zone of autonomous space. Idiomatic units served as the basis for the elaboration of schemes demonstrating the peculiarities of the interaction of the British and a visual explanation of the essence of this concept. Scientific novelty of the work lies in considering phraseological units through two new aspects of the PRIVACY concept: internal isolation and external interference. As a result of the study, it has been found that this concept explains the national model of interpersonal relations of British residents, in particular, it determines the acceptable level of influence of participants on each other in British communication and allows penetrating into the system of figurative representations that contribute to the development of intercultural communicative competence.
