Specifics of autointerpretation in the novel “The Teenager Savenko, or Self-Portrait of a Bandit in Adolescence” by E. Limonov

Abstract. The article is devoted to the analysis of the novel “The Teenager Savenko, or Self-Portrait of a Bandit in Adolescence” by E. Limonov, the largest contemporary novelist and representative of the Russian emigration of the “third wave”, in the context of the problem of auto-interpretation, which is explained by the need to identify the key features of the poetics of the writer’s early work, which will largely determine his subsequent works. The aim of the study is to identify the peculiarity of auto-interpretation in E. Limonov’s novel “The Teenager Savenko...”. The scientific novelty of our work consists in the fact that for the first time in “The Teenager Savenko, or Self-Portrait of a Bandit in Adolescence” the means of authorial representation are established and holistically comprehended. As a result, it is revealed that, firstly, the writer plays with the details of his own biography, referring to the “Kharkov” period of his life; secondly, the author’s mask of Edi-Baby becomes the most important technique of authorial interpretation; thirdly, the author’s mask is constructed through the techniques of autobiography, retrospection, and deep reflection, generated by the collision of two points of view (of the young autogamer and the author of the “real”, who leads the narrative in a neutral, quasi-epic form).
