Abstract.
The aim of this research is to identify the specific characteristics of integrating intercultural elements into the instruction of English as an International Language (EIL) for students in Russian economic universities within the context of the digitalization of the educational space. The article examines key factors influencing the integration of intercultural elements into the EIL learning process and the implementation of cognitive mechanisms for students' assimilation of foreign language material. Particular attention is paid to the study of pedagogical conditions aimed at effective personalized EIL learning and conditioning the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to integrate intercultural elements. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that, for the first time, the process of integrating intercultural elements into EIL instruction is comprehensively investigated, considering students' cognitive abilities (including their ability to perceive foreign language information) and the capabilities of digital technologies and AI to optimize this process. As a result of the research, it has been established that the effectiveness of integrating intercultural elements into EIL instruction largely depends on creating an adaptive educational environment where AI serves not only as a tool for personalizing learning but also as a means of forming intercultural competence. At the same time, the identified relationship between the level of digital transformation of the educational space and the quality of preparation for intercultural communication among students in economic fields is of fundamental importance.
