Cognitive structure and language expression of the intertextual concept DIGITAL SOCIETY in the M.-U. Kling’s novel “Qualityland”

Abstract.
The article explores a new type of concept represented by works of the postmodern era – an intertextual concept, which serves as the object of research. The subject of research is the ways of verbalization of this concept in M.-U. Kling’s novel “Qualityland”. Based on lexical-semantic analysis, the intertextual concept of DIGITAL SOCIETY is defined as the main concept in the novel under study. The purpose of the study is to determine the specific characteristics of an intertextual concept as a result of artistic-language cognition of postmodern authors. The scientific originality of the research lies in the fact that a new type of author’s concept is revealed – an intertextual concept, its cognitive structure is modeled and the ways of linguistic expression are determined. The results showed that this type of concept is characterized by discreteness and is implemented through a unique author’s language due to which new meanings are formed. It is established that this concept consists of four cognithemes: “popular culture”, “rethinking world history and literature”, “technical environment”, and “social problems of digital society”. Allusion is defined as the main linguistic way of expressing this concept. According to the source, the identified allusions are classified into cinematic, musical, literary, historical, and technical. New types of allusions are identified, namely augmented, i.e., referring to a well-known phenomenon that forms new artistic meanings in the context of a postmodern work, and an abbreviation-allusion based on a language game. It is established that each cognitheme in the composition of the concept is represented by allusions of a certain type and has a specific linguistic expression.
