Abstract. The study aims to provide a typological description of Louise Ackermann’s poetry. Based on an analysis of works from the poet’s major poetry collections, the article identifies the most characteristic features of Ackermann’s poetic world as well as the significant traits of her poetics. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that, for the first time, the poet’s oeuvre is examined not solely in terms of thematic content (“philosophical poetry”, “atheistic poetry”, etc.), but with a distinct poetological focus; Ackermann’s creative method is defined in order to situate her within the typology of 19th-century French poets. The principal, typological findings of the study are as follows: Ackermann’s work represents a phenomenon largely characteristic of the 19th century, featuring both elements of Classicism (in style) and Romanticism (in content and the use of the “fragment” genre). A distinctive feature of the poet’s artistic manner is her orientation toward an intellectual (rather than sensory) reception of reality and the creation – in the spirit of Romantic duality – of the unique world of her “Poésies philosophiques” (“Philosophical Poems”). This poetic world embodied the widespread moods of the last third of the 19th century (loss of faith, skepticism, pessimism), which closely aligned with Ackermann’s personal worldview.
