DETERMINING THE ACCURACY OF ELECTRIC FIELD INTENSITY SENSORS WITH MAGNETIC-MODULATION TRANSFORMER

Abstract. The article substantiates the use of pulse-duration modulation of the output signal of the magnetic-modulation transformer for the intensity sensor of electric fields generated by oceanic turbulence within the frequency domain below 1 Hertz. The paper gives estimation of distortions caused by the modulation process. The authors suggest using a root mean square distortion coefficient as a measure of accuracy of the signal presentation. The article represents expressions that enable to assess the influence of modulation parameters on the distortion coefficient and to optimize the choice of these parameters, which determine the dynamic and frequency range of magnetic-modulation transformers.
