THE COMPATIBILITY OF RUSSIAN AND ENGLISH QUALITATIVE PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITIES AS THE CHARACTERIZERS OF ACTION WITH THE VERBS OF VARIOUS SEMANTIC GROUPS

Abstract. In the article such important characteristic of the phraseological units of qualitative semantics as their compatibility, ability, or valency, is considered. Being the characterizes of action, the phraseological unities of different semantic groups develop their valency only with some groups of verbs just as only certain groups of verbs cause the compatibility only with some phraseological unities. The verbal valency of a phraseological unity is determined by the semantic component structure of the verb itself and its characterizer.
