Abstract. The article is devoted to the analysis of one of the types of casuistry - a pun - in the original of the book by J. Rowling Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and its translations by two experts: M. Spivak and M. Litvinova. Based on the results of the research of empirical data it is concluded that pun is quite frequently met on the pages of the book, but various ways of realization of the given phenomenon in translations selected for the analysis are found. In the book there are puns in the basis of which quasi-proper names lay, first of all anthroponyms, toponyms and zoonyms, and also anagrams, abbreviations and neologisms, therefore the realization of this type of casuistry while translating into Russian represents a significant difficulty for translators.
