INNOVATIVE LEXICAL PROCESSES IN THE SYSTEM OF STEREOTYPICAL CONSTRUCTIONS OF MODERN ENGLISH BUSINESS DISCOURSE: ABBREVIATION AND SHORTENING

Abstract. Modern English business discourse is an institutional phenomenon determined by status, purposeful speech behaviour conducted in accordance with communication rules accepted in business community. The institutionality of business discourse as well as the discursive category of relevancy determine the rules of choosing and using the language means used for the realization of the complex of communicative intentions. On the basis of the presented theoretical considerations the position of stereotypical constructions in the area of modern business discourse is determined, the role of shortenings and abbreviations in the realization of a speaker's communicative intentions is revealed in the article.
