TO THE QUESTON OF EMPHATICDO STATUS IN MODERN ENGLISH

Abstract. The article is devoted to the specific position of the periphrastic constructions with the verb do in modern English. The author proves that the use of the so called emphatic do in narrative affirmative statements is conditioned not by the goals of expression and emotional estimate but by the communicative goals of the statement.
