Abstract. The basis of flattery initiator's intentions and actions is his (her) vital interest and social needs provision (wealth, power, prestige), his (her) attitude to people is based on the possibility of using them for his (her) own hand. In flattery communicative acts an addresser using encoded language signs pursues the aim to inform an addressee in a wrong way. Meanwhile the process of the greatest divergence between an addresser's and an addressee's intentional and final pragmatics of one and the same message takes place. So, flattery objects are pleased with the only fact that they are considered as worthy of flattery.
