ABOUT SUBJUNCTIVE MOOD STATUS IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE IN THE LIGHT OF COGNITIVE LINGUISTICS

Abstract. The author attempts not so much to solve the problem of the Subjunctive as a grammatical category of the English language as to answer the questions What is the Subjunctive Mood overall? What for and how do we use this language form in our communication?. Contemporary linguistics achieves such research aims by applying the latest data of cognitive linguistics, particularly bio-socio-cultural approach, which essence is given to the reader in a most schematic and illustrative way.
