ARINKA'S IMAGE IN EVENK FOLKLORE

Abstract. The article is devoted to one of the personages of the Evenk folklore - Arinka. Being quite a popular hero, Arinka remains unknown for the Evenk folklore study. The author for the first time undertakes the attempt to describe this personage's image. The article is written on the basis of the folklore texts collected by the workers of Sector of Evenk Philology of Institute of Classical Researches and North Smaller Peoples' Problems of Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences and also some folklore works published earlier. Arinka's image description is given according to relative sections. The author reveals Arinka's basic features, such as the fact that he is an anthropomorphous creature of masculine gender, the representative of the alien world, can have children and so on; and also the problems of supernatural creatures identification in the Evenk folklore.
