EMPIRICAL AND FORMAL-LOGICAL APPROACHES TO RESEARCH OF ARTIFACTS LANGUAGE CATEGORIZATION

Abstract. The author analyzes basic methodological approaches to artifacts categorization and difficulties that accompany it, by the example of the revealed approaches to beverages categorization shows the main existing contradiction (the hierarchical/non-hierarchical pattern of the developed model), for which resolution conducts the analysis of the author's experiment results (questionnaire with unrestricted variants of answers, method of free classification, interview), reveals the main approaches of testees to beverages categorization, develops the model of this category structure, and shows the inadequacy of formal-logical approach to the research of language categorization without using empirical methods.
