Abstract. The author analyzes the functions of situations in the genre and narrative structure of the early novel "Star" by E. G. Kazakevich, defines the logic of events linkage by the name of the hero (Vladimir Travkin - Star), which semantics is the symbolic equivalent of the plot, and defines "Star" not as a military-adventure or military- everyday, but as heroic-pathetic story.
