Kuz'mina Raisa Petrovna
Institute of Classical Researches and Problems of Smaller Peoples of the North of Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences

Abstract. The article analyses the bird images in the Even folklore, presents an attempt to analyse these characters in fairy-tales, myths, epic works of different Even local groups. Special researches devoted to the bird images in the Even folklore were not done. The characters’ turn into different birds is found in folklore texts of all Even local groups. These transformations are the remains of the totemism not only of the Even people but also of other Siberian nations.
