PROPER NAME WITH RELATIVE SINGLENESS IN GARMENT DENOMINATIONS

Abstract. The article is devoted to the analysis of garment denominations, which structure contains proper names. The author distinguishes two groups of proper names –proper names with absolute and relative singleness. The article presents the analysis of the English denominations containing proper names with relative singleness – Bertha and Gabrielle, and also attempts to reveal the motives of using these denominations in the process of new items designation.
